JOB TITLE: Associate Director, Labor Relations and Services

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Associate Director, guide other leaders to inspire top performance from their teams. The Associate Director will monitor multiple lines of business/projects within the association to achieve operational objectives. The Associate Director is knowledgeable about the education and business industries and keeps up to date about strategic partners and trends. The Associate Director will lead the business/projects and member support by example, finding solutions to create and maintain a high level of membership focus. Will touch the full ecosystem of NJSBA via our members and Board affiliates. The Associate Director will lead direct strategy throughout the organization through strategic changes to achieve positive results. Introduces metrics designed to track the effects of action plans and determine whether the actions are effective at meeting targets or whether new plans should be developed. To foster growth among staff, the Associate Director coaches and encourages with clear communication. Incumbents should have a proven track record of successfully managing teams at a leadership level and driving business improvements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor multiple lines of business/projects within the association to achieve operational objectives.
  • Review and improve organizational effectiveness by developing processes and creating innovative approaches for improvement
  • Provide guidance and feedback to inspire top performance from staff
  • Maintain project timelines to ensure tasks are accomplished on time and within budget
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships across teams and with members.
  • Strategic Partner for Workshop, Statewide conferences, and NJSBA contracts.
  • Manage the operations of Legal and Labor Relations products and services
  • Provide support for NJSBA’s STEAM & Sustainable Programs Initiative including STEAM Tank 365 Online, Workshop Student Success Center planning, and professional development/training activities throughout the year.
  • Provide project management and leadership to teams across NJSBA for strategic projects.
  • Lead teams in solving strategic issues/problems using a hypothesis-driven approach.
  • Serve as the liaison to Charter School affiliate members.
  • Manage staff as applicable.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or related field work experience
  • Juris Doctorate degree required
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience in managing projects and business-related activities
  • Knowledge of budgets, managing revenue and expenses
  • Knowledge of public education, school law and school board governance, preferred
  • Knowledge of virtual platforms like Zoom, Swoogo, Google meet, etc., preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Apps including Teams, Lists, SharePoint, One Drive, Forms and traditional Office Apps, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

PREFERRED

  • Experience with Association Management System software
  • Experience in public education and/or school board governance

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES

  • Organization skills, time management, planning and research skills.
  • Must be a team player and possess interpersonal skills to work with a variety of individuals. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in written form.
  • Written and/or Verbal Communication skills, Management skills, creative, training, mechanical, technical (software, technical writing), computer (Word, PP, Excel, etc.)
  • Negotiations, Coding, Excel/Number Skills, Contract Language, Labor Laws, Coding Skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite (such as Advanced Excel, Access, Teams, etc.).
  • Advanced Instructional Design Skills (for online courses).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective presentations within and outside the Association.
  • Effective consultative skills including analytical skills, legal analysis and problem resolution skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple constituents and represents the operation broadly within and outside the Association.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to handle multiple priorities while adhering to deadlines.
  • Network with others in the industry to remain current on new practices in the industry.

TERMS:                                            Full-time

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:                  Exempt

MINIMUM STARTING SALARY:     $135,000
