ABOUT THE ROLE
NJSBA is seeking a detail-oriented, organized and confidential Paralegal to support our legal team in delivering high-quality legal services. The ideal candidate will have experience in legal research, document drafting, case preparation, file management and will play a critical role in ensuring legal processes run smoothly and efficiently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- With help from the Executive Assistant/Legal Researcher conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
- Provide support to the General Counsel on all matters
- Draft legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, discovery requests, and correspondence
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documentation is up to date
- Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and meetings
- File legal documents with courts and other agencies
- Summarize depositions, interrogatories, and testimony
- Coordinate and schedule interviews, hearings, and depositions
- Monitor and meet deadlines for legal filings and document submissions
- Manage discovery processes, including gathering and organizing documents
- Maintain confidentiality of all legal and client matters
- Attend all Resolutions Subcommittee and Delegate Assembly meetings and assist the committee, as assigned by the General Counsel
- Anything else as assigned by the General Counsel
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field
- Paralegal certification from an accredited program (preferred but not always required)
- 3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant
- Familiarity with legal database systems (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software

Strong organization skills, time management, planning and research skills. Computer skills. Must be a team player and possess interpersonal skills to work with a variety of individuals. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in written form. Must also demonstrate excellent grammar, punctuation, spelling, and proofreading skills. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities while adhering to deadlines. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals and groups. Ability to serve in a confidential capacity.
TERMS: Full-time
MINIMUM SALARY: $73,000
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Exempt
