On Wednesday, April 22, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE)
announced a call for applicants for the New Jersey Preschool Inclusive Education Project (NJPIEP).
Background
The NJDOE’s Office of Special Education (OSE), in partnership with Montclair State University’s Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health, invites districts to apply for the New Jersey Preschool Inclusive Education Project (NJPIEP) for the 2026–2027 school year.
NJPIEP is a multi-year initiative designed to support districts in expanding and strengthening inclusive preschool programs for students with disabilities through leadership development, coaching, and job-embedded professional learning. Participating district teams will receive targeted support to build sustainable systems that promote inclusive practices, collaborative teamwork, and meaningful family engagement.
This project provides districts with the structure, guidance, and coaching necessary to develop high-quality inclusive preschool programs where students with and without disabilities learn and grow together.
The deadline for Systemic Change applications is May 22, 2026. There are separate applications for State Funded Preschool Districts as well as Preschool Districts without State funding. All are encouraged to apply.
