Scott E. Nodes, Warren County board member, passed away on Jan. 13, 2026.

Scott E. Nodes

A graduate of Delaware Valley Regional High School, Scott was deeply committed to education, acting as a pillar of the Greenwich Township and Warren County educational communities. Scott served 12 years on the Greenwich Township Board of Education, was an alternate on the NJSBA Board of Directors for six years, and represented Warren County as a delegate. Passionate about working with the youth and giving back to his community, Scott was active in youth sports, coaching youth basketball with the Greenwich Township Recreation Association and serving as treasurer of the Phillipsburg Area Colts.

“Scott Nodes was an extraordinary member of our Board and an even more extraordinary human being. He advocated relentlessly for children and brought integrity, compassion, and purpose to everything he did,” said Dr. Timothy Purnell, NJSBA Executive Director/CEO. “Scott believed deeply in service, both public and military, and in doing what was right, even when it was difficult. His leadership, humanity, and commitment to others will leave a lasting impact on NJSBA and on all who had the privilege of working with him.”

Beyond his work in education, Scott was a retired warden for the Hunterdon County Jail, which he presided over for 23 years. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP #29), NJ County Jail Wardens Association, and American Legion Mecsey Bishop Post No. 456.

A service to celebrate Scott’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 9 Red School House Rd, Lebanon, NJ 08833.
