SEL4US, The Urban Assembly, and Six Seconds invite schools and communities around the globe to celebrate the sixth annual International SEL Day on Monday, March 3, 2025.
The day kicks off SEL Week, March 3 to March 7.
This year’s theme is Skills for Success, Ready for the Future.
SEL Day is a global, grassroots celebration of social and emotional learning to support children’s academic achievement and well-being. Since its inception in 2020, individuals and organizations from all 50 U.S. states and 87 countries have engaged in SEL Day activities.
In 2024, over 5,000 SEL champions representing all 50 U.S. states and 73 countries made 6,000 commitments to showcase, promote, advocate, and support SEL. Advocacy efforts have resulted in SEL Day proclamations in ten states, a letter of support from the White House, and a bipartisan resolution for SEL Week introduced in the Senate.
Goals of SEL Day include:
- Demonstrating and celebrating beset practices.
- Raising awareness with new audiences.
- Engaging policymakers and stakeholders.
- Supporting educators and administrators.
The big idea for SEL Day is to celebrate and share the great SEL schools are doing to support students and colleagues not only on SEL Day but every day The goal for organizers is to have #SELday trending on various social media platforms. To do that, they ask participants to create an SEL artifact and share it through a picture or video online. An SEL artifact can be anything you do to promote, teach, or advocate for SEL in your classroom or school.
Everyone who signs up for SEL Day will also receive a link to access all of the SEL Day Summit online events, which will be March 8. Sessions will include:
