WEST WINDSOR, NJ – The New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) will hold its semiannual Delegate Assembly on Saturday, May 10, at 9:00 a.m. at the Conference Center at Mercer County Community College in West Windsor. The meeting is open to the public.

Delegates, representing local school boards from across the state, will act on three resolutions proposed by the NJSBA Nominating Committee. These resolutions address key issues impacting New Jersey schools:

  • Woodbury Board of Education (Gloucester County): Proposes new policy language to the NJSBA’s Manual of Positions and Policies on Education (P&P) to promote student participation in interscholastic esports and encourage the awarding of varsity letters for such participation.
  • Franklin Township Board of Education (Warren County): Proposes new policy language supporting the modification of the criteria for the school nurse (non-instructional) endorsement, suggesting the elimination of the bachelor’s degree and NJDOE-approved college curriculum requirements in favor of requiring candidates to complete three school-specific operations classes within their first 18 months of employment.
  • Kittatinny Board of Education (Sussex County): Proposes new language to the NJSBA’s P&P supporting the inclusion of state-excused absences for students completing steps necessary to enter the skilled trades profession/union within attendance regulations.

The Delegate Assembly is the primary policy-setting body for the NJSBA, a federation representing New Jersey’s local school boards of education.
