Competing priorities in primary and secondary school systems mean there is rarely enough money to fund capital building projects that improve efficiency, health and finances. There are, however, ways to overcome this funding barrier, and one way is through a green revolving fund. The Center for Green Schools is holding a free webinar at 3 p.m., June 23, that will explore how this internal financing works. During the webinar, titled “Strategies for Implementing a Green Fund,” presenters will showcase stories from K-12 schools that are using the model to support sustainability programs. Attendees will learn about various tools designed specifically to help institutions implement and manage a fund. Presenters include Cameren Cousins, director of sustainability and faculty, Fenn School; Dan Schnitzer, director of construction and sustainability, Durham Public Schools; and Mark Orlowski, executive director and founder, Sustainable Endowments Institute. School leaders and community advocates interested in financing sustainability programs with a revolving fund are invited to sign up for the webinar.
