“Education Matters,” a New Jersey School Boards Association podcast, featured Dr. David Aderhold, superintendent of the West Windsor Plainsboro Regional School District, in its first episode, which aired live on May 6.
Ray Pinney, lead director of member training and engagement at the Association, is the host of the podcast. He and Aderhold talked about the numerous obstacles confronting school districts as they seek to fill teacher shortages.
During the podcast, Aderhold highlighted a new program his district recently launched called The New Teacher Program, which offers certain student teachers $5,000 to student teach – and possibly more in certain instances.
The two also talked about the challenges school districts are seeing in the teacher pipeline and the ramifications of not having enough qualified teachers in the classroom.
