The Academy for SEL in Schools at Rutgers University, in partnership with Saint Elizabeth University, proudly announces the launch of a new, fully online course:
Brick by Brick: A Leader’s Guide to Building Social-Emotional Learning in Schools.

This first-of-its-kind course is designed specifically for PreK–12 school leaders and aspiring leaders. It provides practical tools and expert guidance to help implement systemic Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and cultivate a positive, inclusive school environment where all students feel safe, valued, and have a strong sense of belonging.

  • Free for all NJ educators, including school board members and aspiring leaders
  • Five flexible, self-paced online modules
  • Real-world case studies and expert insights
  • Training for effective participation in SEL, SECD, and HIB-related roles and committees
  • Strategies to build student competencies, support academic success, and promote staff and student well-being

Developed through a grant from the New Jersey Department of Education, in collaboration with the Academy for SEL in Schools, Rutgers SECD Lab, character.org, NJASECD, and national SEL experts—including frontline educators.
