On Monday, Dec. 22, the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) announced that the Division of Local Government Services (DLGS) is now accepting FY2026 grant applications for the Local Efficiency Achievement Program (LEAP) and School Regionalization Efficiency Program (SREP).
LEAP facilitates exploring and establishing shared services by providing assistance to counties, municipalities, school districts, commissions, authorities, and fire districts for the study or implementation of promising shared services projects undertaken under the Uniform Shared Services and Consolidation Act. Additional information about FY2026 LEAP Program Guidelines, grant management guidelines, applications, supplementary documents and additional detailed information is available on DCA’s website. The LEAP application submission deadline is 5:00 p.m. EST on April 15, 2026.
SREP facilitates feasibility studies that support the creation of meaningful and implementable plans to form or expand regional school districts. Factors like enrollment, facility utilization, contiguous districts with small enrollment, existing send/receive relationships, administrative staffing, class size, diversity enhancement, debt and contractual obligations, faculty needs and attrition, and other factors will be evaluated. More information about FY2026 SREP program guidelines, grant management guidelines, applications, supplementary documents and additional detailed information is available on DCA’s website. The SREP application submission deadline is 5:00 p.m. EST on April 15, 2026.
