The Strengthening Gifted and Talented Education Act (P.L. 2019,C338) requires school districts to submit an updated Gifted and Talented Education Service Report (SR) to the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) during the scheduled New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum review. School districts are also required to complete and submit the SR template located in the NJDOE Homeroom.
In continued support of the school districts’ successful implementation of the Act, NJDOE is transitioning to an online format to replace the current Excel SR template. This updated format is intended to streamline the reporting process and clarify specific data to be collected and analyzed. The updated SR is designed to collect:
- The gifted and talented continuum of services, policies, and procedures implemented in the school district; and
- The professional development opportunities provided for teachers, educational services staff, and school leaders about gifted and talented students, their needs, and educational development.
Student demographics and Gifted Education Staff data collection will continue to be reported separately from the SR in the new Statewide Longitudinal Education Data System.
Next Steps
The updated SR will launch in NJDOE Homeroom June 6, 2025.
Technical Assistance Sessions
NJDOE will conduct technical assistance sessions focusing on completing the updated SR.
