NJSBA’s upcoming Leadership Summit on Monday, June 23 at Manville High School is a dynamic, interactive full-day training experience developed exclusively for school board presidents and vice presidents centered around three powerful themes — Lead, Preside, and Unify.

Lead: Strengthen Your Leadership Impact

Grounded in the 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell, we will explore how intentional leadership shapes student outcomes, builds community trust, and supports superintendent collaboration. Participants will complete a leadership self-assessment and apply key laws to real board scenarios.

This session is a practical deep dive into parliamentary procedure — the essential framework for running fair and focused board meetings. Through small-group scenarios, participants will practice how to manage debate, handle motions, and preserve decorum while protecting the rights of members and the public.

Unify: Build a Collaborative, High-Functioning Board Team

Effective boards are not uniform — they are unified. This session focuses on fostering trust, defining roles, and navigating conflict, and will conclude with a board president-superintendent panel featuring collaborative success stories.

NJSBA’s Leadership Summit is more than a workshop — it’s a call to action for board presidents and vice presidents to lead with purpose, preside with integrity, and unify their teams in service of student success. Register today to secure your spot!
