The New Jersey School Boards Association is seeking an associate director of marketing, who will report to the senior director of connection.

The minimum salary for the position is $85,000 per year.

The successful candidate will manage NJSBA’s marketing strategy in alignment with Association goals. Through data-driven planning, effective communication, and multi-channel campaign tactics, and events, this position works with internal and external resources to help drive revenue, build awareness and increase engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the marketing efforts for NJSBA, and create and implement marketing plans for products, services and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with departments within the Association on product and service campaigns to ensure messaging, strategy and branding aligns with goals.
  • Manage the marketing unit staff.
  • Manage the marketing budget and analyze trends to make recommendations on budget allocations.
  • Work with the digital media producer to create video content to promote the Association and its initiatives.
  • Write marketing campaigns, newsletter articles, magazine articles, social media posts, and website content.
  • Identify target audiences, differentiate messaging, and work to achieve specific objectives across multiple platforms.
  • Manage and create website content and collaborate with internal teams to create new pages on the NJSBA and conference websites.
  • Serves as an integral member of the Workshop conference team, by managing the marketing plan, and engaging in critical aspects of event planning.
  • Oversee the planning and development of broadcast email campaigns: creative segmentation, pre-deployment testing, quality control, and back-end analysis. Troubleshoot deliverability issues.
  • Manage marketing schedules across communication channels.
  • Create and analyze training program satisfaction surveys to measure NJSBA membership feedback and adjust delivery where necessary.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of large Association conferences.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of new business development initiatives.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Background

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in marketing and communications.
  • Minimum five years of recent experience in marketing with ability to handle multiple programs and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to understand and translate results to make recommendations for strategic improvements.
  • Excellent writing skills, including experience writing promotional campaigns, news articles, social media and writing for search engine optimization on websites.
  • Leadership and people management experience.
  • Strong technical skills, including recent experience working with email marketing/marketing automation platforms, working with CRM platforms, and experience across Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Lists, SharePoint, Forms, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in K-12 education, associations, nonprofits or government entities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Event marketing experience.
