On Monday, Nov. 8, Gov. Phil Murphy acted on approximately 90 bills that the Legislature sent to his desk before going into recess this summer, including over a dozen school-related proposals.

The New Jersey School Boards Association marked an impressive achievement Nov. 4 in presenting its 100th Facebook Live episode since the COVID-19 pandemic washed over the globe.

NJSBA's Virtual Workshop 2021 organizers have mined data from the 100 professional development programs to pull together a list of the most-watched sessions for those still interested in registering.

At its November meeting, the New Jersey State Board of Education passed a resolution honoring members of the New Jersey PTA and discussed proposing amended regulations for English language learners to align the regulations with federal requirements.

Under the law, board members who do not complete the fingerprinting process within the 30-day period following election could be declared ineligible to serve in office.

The agenda and meeting materials for the Nov. 20, 2021, semiannual Delegate Assembly are available online for review by delegates and any other interested board members.

The New Jersey School Boards Association encourages students to submit entries to the Garden State Film Festival’s student submission category, “New Jersey Hometown Documentary Short” by the Jan. 8 deadline.

This notice reminds local government and school district contracting units of key public works contractor registration, prevailing wage, debarment, and equal opportunity/affirmative action requirements. 

NJSBA will organize New Jersey-centered events that will facilitate engagement within the state’s congressional delegation, create opportunities to advocate for federal actions that will enhance public education and update board members about timely topics.
