The New Jersey Department of Education is accepting applications from local educational agencies that would like to be designated as dual language immersion and world languages model programs for the 2025-2027 cohort, according to an advisory.

Local educational agencies or schools designated as model program sites will serve as regional resource centers and enable educators to witness exemplary second language acquisition practices.

Applications will be reviewed by a committee of experts in the field of dual language immersion and world languages to select finalists. Finalists must participate in a site or virtual visit. From the site or virtual visit, local educational agencies and/or schools selected as model programs will be recognized at a ceremony in April 2025.

Key Steps

The model program application and directions for completion may be accessed on the New Jersey Student Learning Standards – World Languages website. The deadline to submit applications is June 28, 2024. Local educational agencies and schools previously designated as model programs are encouraged to reapply and highlight how access and learning opportunities have been expanded.
