On Saturday, March 2, the New Jersey School Boards Association hosted its Leadership Conference focusing on personnel issues.
The free program was held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Conference Center at Mercer County College at 1200 Old Trenton Road in West Windsor Township.
The event was the first in a series of programs focusing on board leadership. It dove into the complex landscape of labor and personnel issues confronting boards of education, providing invaluable insights and strategies for effective governance. Topics included:
- Dealing with the staffing shortage in New Jersey.
- Legal issues in personnel for boards of education.
- The board-superintendent relationship.
- The advantages of dual enrollment.
The program featured breakout sessions tailored specifically for board presidents and vice presidents, ensuring targeted discussions and personalized guidance for leadership excellence.
Save the Dates for the Next Two Sessions
The NJSBA already has the next two sessions in the Leadership Conference planned, so save the dates. Each program will explore various issues facing boards of education and include breakout sessions just for board presidents and vice presidents. Each program will also have a virtual option for the large group sessions. If board members need statewide and regional credit for their board member certification this is a great opportunity to acquire it.
