• Full Virtual Workshop 2021 Agenda Released

  School officials can begin gearing up for the New Jersey School Boards Association’s annual Workshop 2021 by reviewing its just-released conference agenda, featuring 100 training sessions.

• Reminder: Deadline to Request a Hard Copy of Delegate Handbook Is Oct. 21

  The NJSBA Delegate Assembly Handbook will not automatically be mailed to registrants. It will only be sent to those who request a hard copy by the Oct. 21 deadline.

  The New Jersey School Boards Association encourages students to submit entries to the Garden State Film Festival’s student submission category, “New Jersey Hometown Documentary Short."

• Save the Date for Nov. 23 Virtual School Law Forum

  The 2021 Virtual Fall School Law Forum will be Tuesday, Nov. 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Final E-Procurement Regulations Adopted

  Last week, the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs' Division of Local Government Services issued a document describing the final regulations authorizing use of electronic procurement by boards of education.

• Notice: NJSBA Resolutions Subcommittee Meeting Time Change

  The meeting will be held remotely on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m.

• New Jersey Department of Education Acting Commissioner to Deliver Workshop Address

  Dr. Angelica Allen-McMillan, a longtime educator, was named to her post in October 2020.

  

• Legislative Update: New Laws Establish Mental Health Grants, Promote STEM, Combat Food Insecurity

  Among the measures, signed last week, is a grant program to promote depression screenings for students in grades 7-12.

• Court: Vaccine Requirement for City Employees Not Mandatorily Negotiable

  The court found that the city had a managerial prerogative to protect the health and safety not only of its employees, but also of residents who have contact with city employees.
