The 2025 NJSBA STEAM Tank Challenge Regional Rounds have officially come to a close, providing an incredible showcase of talent, teamwork, and trailblazing ideas.

More than 430 K-12 STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) teams from across New Jersey presented their innovative solutions to real-world problems, impressing judges with their creativity, critical thinking, and passion for making a difference.

From sustainability and technology to community care and social impact, these young innovators brought forward ideas which truly reflect the spirit of STEAM education. The level of ingenuity displayed this year has been nothing short of inspiring.

Pictured are some of the 430 student participants in the NJSBA STEAM Tank regional competition. As they identified and addressed problems, students impressed judges with their proposed solutions. STEAM Tank helps students develop skills and interests that can help them throughout their academic careers.

STEAM Tank is an opportunity for student teams to identify situations which require innovative solutions to reimagine and redesign New Jersey communities, so they are sustainable, healthy, equitable, and safe for everyone. Over the years, judges have seen first-hand that STEAM Tank builds valuable soft skills which will serve students during their time in school, when they enter the workforce, and whatever challenges they may face in their future.

Now, excitement is building for the STEAM Tank Challenge Finals, where teams from the elementary, middle, and high school divisions will compete for top honors from May 19-23, 2025. These finalists represent the very best of student innovation—and we at the NJSBA can’t wait to see their ideas take center stage!

Stay tuned as we head toward the next stretch of this unforgettable journey. The future is bright—and it’s being built by these extraordinary students.
