The purpose of this memorandum is to advise school districts, charter schools, and renaissance school projects that the deadline for requesting reimbursement of costs related to the implementation of P.L. 2023, c. 147 has been extended to May 30, 2025.

Key steps/actions

The law requires school districts to provide direct access to menstrual products in at least 50 percent of female and gender-neutral school bathrooms in schools that serve any combination of grades six through twelve, and further requires the state to reimburse districts for the program’s associated costs. Extending the deadline until May 30, 2025 will provide additional time for districts to ensure accuracy of the data, and ensure that all costs incurred for the current year are included. The extension will also allow time for any school district to make corrections to previous requests, if necessary.

Please note the following critical reminders regarding your data submission:

  • Please follow the detailed submission instructions provided in the DOE Homeroom application, Menstrual Product Reimbursement Program.
  • Submit only one spreadsheet that includes all expenses related to program implementation for the 2024-2025 school year.
  • Corrections or additions can be made only by uploading an entirely new file.
  • Any new or additional upload(s) will overwrite the district’s previous upload(s).
  • If a school district has already submitted accurate data for reimbursement for costs incurred to implement the program in the 2024-2025 school year, then no further action is necessary.
  • All requests for reimbursement are due by Friday, May 30, 2025.
