Trenton, 1/23/26 – Voters in Mount Arlington (Morris County) and Ocean Gate (Ocean County) will go to the polls on Jan. 27 to vote on tax levy questions. NJSBA received no proposed construction questions as of the printing on 1/23/26.

Under the Educational Facilities and Construction and Financing Act of 2000, the state will fund at least 40% of eligible school construction costs through annual debt service aid.

Tax Levy Proposed Questions
Morris County
Mount Arlington
Proposal – The Board of Education of the borough of Mount Arlington in the County of Morris, New Jersey, shall raise an additional $975,000 for General Funds in the 2026-2027 school year. These taxes will be used exclusively for various purposes, including, but not limited to, maintaining teachers, instructional staff, facilities, curricular programs, athletics, and extracurricular activities. Approval of these taxes will result in a permanent increase in the School District’s tax levy. The additional taxes authorized herein will be used exclusively for purposes described herein and to finance expenditures that are in addition to those necessary to achieve the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
Ocean County
Ocean Gate
Proposal – The Board of Education of the borough of Ocean Gate in the County of Ocean, New Jersey, shall raise an additional $700,000 for General Funds from taxes in the 2026-2027 school year over the regular school year budget to provide funding for additional maintenance costs necessary to keep the Ocean Gate School open for the 2026-2027 school year and beyond. Approval of these taxes will result in a permanent increase in the school district’s tax levy. These proposed additional expenditures are in addition to those necessary to achieve the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
