On March 11, 2026, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) published guidance for designating CDL-exempt drivers for 2026-2027 student transportation pursuant to P.L.2024, c.81. Importantly, boards should be aware that the deadline to submit required documentation for designated drivers to their Executive County Superintendent is Aug. 17, 2026. That information must be submitted through the NJDOE’s Homeroom application entitled Transportation: CDL-Exempt Drivers.
