In addition to playing the piano, Melanie is enrolled in college courses at Kean University, plays the saxophone at her church, and wrestles for her school team. In the future, Melanie hopes to become both a cardiothoracic surgeon and a professional UFC fighter.

Ocean City Dance Team

The Ocean City Dance Team is made up of elite dancers from across the Cape Atlantic region. These talented performers audition each spring, and begin preparing for the upcoming season immediately, attending top-tier dance camps, learning innovative choreography, and training as a team.  For the past three years, the team has competed on a national level, and most recently earned a Top 10 placement at the UDA Nationals in both the Jazz and Hip Hop this past January.

Beyond competition, the team performs in multiple showcases each year, participates in a wide range of community events, and brings spirit and energy to school functions — all while fundraising to cover their own team expenses. Many alumni of the Ocean City Dance Team have gone on to join prestigious college dance teams, including those at St. Joseph’s University, Stockton University, Catholic University, Coastal Carolina, Bucknell University, and American University. A few have even entered the professional dance world, performing with pro sports teams and in the commercial dance industry.  This team continues to grow in talent, ambition, and heart — always pushing toward new goals while supporting one another as kind, dedicated, and academically driven young artists.
