On Nov. 21, 2025, Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill announced the first wave of her transition committee. The initial phase of her initiative comprises 10 Action Teams led by New Jersey and national experts. They include members with diverse and distinguished experience and were developed with input from experts in the state and across the country. Jonathan Pushman, NJSBA senior director of advocacy, has been selected to be a part of the Delivering a Strong Education for New Jersey Children Action Team.

Jonathan has an extensive background in legislative affairs and relationship building, and has been with the NJSBA for 12 years.
Mr. Pushman joins an expert-driven action team that will focus on the top priorities of the incoming administration, meet regularly to address well-defined questions, and engage directly with key stakeholders — from small businesses and commuter roundtables to conversations with parents and students.
Pushman’s experience and ability to connect with people are well known. Dr. Timothy Purnell, NJSBA Executive Director, is keenly aware of Pushman’s qualifications for the role. “Jonathan has spent years building strong, authentic relationships with legislators, and this appointment is a clear acknowledgment of that effort. We are proud of his achievements and confident he will bring wisdom and integrity to the transition team,” Dr. Purnell said.
The NJSBA congratulates Jonathan Pushman on his selection.
